Program Details

We work in all weather so please come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear. We have bad mosquitoes for part of the summer, you may need mosquito repellent. Sun protection is highly recommended. Work is physically demanding, you will be tired at the end of the day.

We live far from the nearest store and public transit, so you pretty much need to come here with your own vehicle, as there is basically nothing within walking distance and we honestly just don't have time to drive you around. If you are coming with a bike, we are a 15 minute bike ride from public transit.

You will have your own private cabin in a peaceful setting with beautiful mountain vistas and occasional wildlife sightings. The cabin has a basic kitchen and hot shower. The toilet is an outside outhouse and a composting (bucket) toilet inside. You will prepare your own meals in the cabin and you are free to partake of all the food produced on the farm, which varies with the seasons but generally includes eggs and a selection of vegetables and fruits. You are responsible for providing any other food you require.

Activities & Shift

Work hours and days will change throughout the season as needed, volounteers must be flexible in their availability. Generally we require 3 days a week.

Rules

Smoking in designated areas only due to extreme wild fire risk in summer. Substance use that affects your ability to carry out work duties, disrupts the other residents of the farm, hinders your ability to adhere to other rules, or results in dangerous or disruptive behaviour will result in immediate dismissal. Your living quarters will be clean when you arrive, you are responsible for keeping them clean during your stay and ensuring they are clean and ready for the next guest when you leave. There are bears in the area, all food and garbage must be kept safe and secure and not left outside or in vehicles. If you open a gate, close a gate.
