I am Veasna, a Cambodian teacher. I really wanted to help the children of my village in the whole community since there is nobody that knows English and try to improve people’s lifestyle. English Education Center For Community (EECFC) we provide English Education to poor kids and youths in the villages of the community of Toek Vill Village, Cambodia, which is only 9Km from Siem Reap town. I've always wanted to help the children of my village and wider community, and think education is the most important thing. So I decided to create this school in 2009 starting from nothing.
Our mission is to help our children through education, so they can have more opportunities in the future and hopefully become more independent. In Cambodia the public school is not enough for a child to have a complete education, so families have to pay for extra tutoring. Many families do not have the capacity to cover the cost of tutoring and that’s why this center is so important for many kids. With this project poor families can provide the education that their kids deserve.
We have 150 students, aged 6 to 25 years old, of which some are orphans and are supported by sponsors. Right now, in the school there are two allocated teachers teaching 9 classes during the week, including Cambodian and English lessons; 1 hour each, of different levels and abilities.
During the years, part of the help has come from volunteers from all over the world. The main purpose of our volunteers in EECFC has been providing English classes, doing fun activities with the kids and helping fundraising with the aim to buy school materials, clothes, shoes, bags and others school supplies for children, that don’t have the possibility to purchase these things.
The volunteers or the travelers can help for five days a week From Monday till Friday.
Saturday to Sunday is Day off
The volunteers or the travelers can not use drugs or something else bad during stay at our school.
