Dog caretaker at a family-run shelter in Catalonia
The experience
We need a person to take care of the dogs in our shelter. The daily care consists of feeding them, cleaning and maintaining their spaces, administering medications, monitoring their condition, and giving them a lot of love. For this reason we are looking for people who are used to living with dogs; if they have worked in other shelters, even better. In addition to the work at the shelter, help is always needed on the farm for maintenance, cleaning, cultivation, etc.

Program Details
We are an Italian family living in Spain for nine years, and we have built a dog shelter on our farm year after year. Our main activity is caring for the dogs, but we also have 2 hectares of olive trees that we cultivate organically, a garden for self-sufficiency, and many other daily activities related to rural life. On the farm we use solar energy and rainwater, and the farm is located in a fairly isolated area; so we are looking for people who adapt well to rustic life.
Activities & Shift
Daily activities are mainly related to working with the dogs, ensuring that all of their needs are met.
Rules
At home, the fundamental aspect is loving animals and respecting them; we live around the clock surrounded by dogs of different sizes and temperaments, so our volunteers must accept paws, kisses, and fur everywhere.
