Program Details
We are a family living in a natural, forest-based environment, developing a simple and conscious lifestyle close to nature. I am a mother of three homeschooled children, and we are looking for a warm, responsible and open-minded volunteer who would like to join our daily life and support our educational journey.
The main focus is helping my two older children, aged 11 and 14, especially with improving their intermediate English.
We believe that learning happens best through experience, so we are especially interested in people who can engage with the children through creative and practical activities. This may include art, music, gardening, carpentry, cooking, or any hands-on project that encourages curiosity, imagination, and real-world learning. Flexibility and creativity are more important than formal teaching experience.
As a volunteer, your presence will also help me manage the balance of our daily life. I will be focusing on household tasks, caring for my youngest child, and continuing to develop our forest project. Your support with the older children will give us more space and stability to maintain our rhythm and lifestyle. Occasionally, we may also ask for help in the kitchen, such as preparing simple meals or assisting with daily cooking.
The help is mainly needed in the mornings, approximately 4 days per week.
The support is very simple. You don’t need to plan or prepare activities, as the children already have a weekly organisation and their own materials. They choose which projects they want to focus on.
What they mainly need is someone to accompany them while I’m working, and for the volunteer to speak English with them and related with them respectfully.
Activities & Shift
During winter volunteers will be accommodated in a little house with dinning room, kitchen, bathroom and your own room.
We use this little house (only the living room, the volunteers room have a lock to keep it close) as a small forest school, so three mornings a week we need it from 9:00 to 14:00. During those hours, we ask the volunteers to move to our main house. This is also when we need them the most, as they have to accompany our older children.
We also rent out the little house on some weekends, so occasionally the volunteer may need to move to our main house for a weekend as well. It is usually one weekend a month, and during the winter sometimes none at all.
During nice weather will be accommodated in our land in a old and renovated caravan. You'll also have access to a private bathroom. The shower is in our house.
Of course our home is your home.
Rules
We ask all volunteers to respect our home, our children, and our way of life. The most important rule is to treat everyone with kindness, patience, and respect, especially the children, who are at the center of our learning environment.
Please be mindful and respectful of our home, personal spaces, and belongings. We value a calm, clean, and harmonious environment, so we appreciate cooperation in keeping shared areas tidy and taking care of common spaces.
Punctuality and reliability are important, especially during the agreed working hours in the mornings. We appreciate open communication if something changes or if you need support.
Use of mobile phones should be limited during time with the children, so they can fully engage in activities and learning experiences.
We also ask for flexibility and openness, as our daily life can be dynamic due to our family and nature-based project.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is present, respectful, and genuinely interested in sharing time and experiences with children in a positive and conscious way.
