Program Details
We live in a quiet setting just a few steps from the ocean, in Biarritz, Uruguay, and we are looking for people with good energy who want to combine cultural exchange, nature, and practical tasks of home maintenance.
Volunteer work takes place mainly in three vacation rental houses that we prepare throughout the year. The tasks usually include painting, small repairs, gardening, general maintenance, cleaning, and help with various improvement projects around the place. No professional experience is required, but the willingness to learn, collaborate, and stay active is desired.
We offer an independent cottage within the grounds, equipped with a double bed, private bathroom, full kitchen, Wi‑Fi, and parking space. Meals are the volunteers' responsibility, which allows total freedom to organize schedules and meals as you like.
Beyond work, we highly value human exchange. We enjoy sharing conversations, board games, quiet moments, and learning about other cultures and ways of life. The environment is ideal for those who enjoy the beach, nature, and a slower pace away from the city.
Activities & Shift
The exchange consists of 20 hours per week, distributed over five workdays per week, usually in 4-hour shifts per day. We aim to maintain a relaxed and flexible environment, prioritizing good coexistence and convenient organization for everyone.
The main tasks include painting (walls and wood), small repairs, general maintenance, gardening, cleaning, and conditioning the houses and outdoor spaces. Simple DIY activities, organizing tools, or helping with improvement projects around the place may also arise.
No professional experience is necessary, but there should be a willingness to learn, to collaborate, and to actively participate in hands-on tasks. We like to teach how we do things and share practical knowledge about maintaining houses near the sea.
Schedules are usually coordinated together depending on the weather, current projects, and daily dynamics. We always try to maintain a balance between work, rest, and free time to enjoy the beach, nature, and cultural exchange.
Rules
We strive to maintain a calm, clean, and respectful environment for everyone. We highly value good coexistence, clear communication, and common sense.
- Keep spaces clean and tidy, both inside the little house and in the common areas.
- Wash and store kitchen utensils after use.
- Respect rest hours and the tranquility of the place, especially at night.
- Inform us if any problem, breakage, or inconvenience arises during your stay.
- Do not bring guests without prior consultation.
- Take care of tools, materials, and work spaces.
- If traveling with a pet, care, cleanliness, and behavior of the animal are the owner's total responsibility.
- Problematic consumption of alcohol or drugs is not compatible with living here.
- We especially value independent, responsible people with a good attitude to coexist and collaborate.
