Help end the cycle of poverty for Aeta children through education
The experience
Hi there! My name is Trisha and I am deeply involved with the Aeta community of Subic Bay. They are the oldest indigenous group in the Philippines and was displaced during the American colonial period in the Philippines.
Most donations that reach the Aeta communities are short‑term relief.
What the children truly need is not just temporary aid, but access to education that can break the cycle of poverty.

What is expected of you:
The children are ages 2-8 years old so there is no need for a lesson plan. We need someone who can play with the kids and integrate language learning with it.
If you can sing, that's a plus. But this is all about reading books and speaking to children.
Please note that the Aetas have very poor literacy but you will not be required to deal with parents. The children are fast-learners and they can pick up the language easily.
At the end of your stay with us, we would like to have a case study, hoping you'd help us track the children's learning process.
The Aetas live in the forests of Subic Bay so you will be exposed to nature daily. We teach in an outdoor classroom.
You will also get to play with them in rivers, waterfalls, and jungle hikes. It's your call on how to plan the day but we will help you! We have over 10 outdoor classroom spots.
For those who require it for their internship, this is a great opportunity.
