At Pachamama, we have many residents, visitors and volunteers. As a volunteer, you will be assigned a role in the kitchen, cafe, shop, recycling center, or beyond as per needed. It's not a traditional work exchange agreement, and you are invited to stay the typical duration, 6 weeks, and to also participate at least one workshop per month. You'll receive yoga classes, free lunches and dinners, and you'll have plenty of time off to enjoy the local beach, the beautiful jungle, our many classes and events, and all the wonderful people and fellow volunteers in our community. In the Cafe, you will put on great music, serve drinks, chocolates and make food items, clean dishes, use the register and organize the bar and lounge area so it feels warm and welcoming. It's all about the vibes and the yummy treats. If you work at the cafe, you get a discount on anything on the menu.
In the Kitchen, you will help our kitchen staff of authentic Costa Rican cooks prepare delicious vegan and vegetarian meals, work the register, clean dishes and organize the restaurant. If you work at the kitchen, you get free breakfasts as well.
There are other volunteer positions available if the above two are filled.
We have a minimum stay of 6 weeks, and we recommend you have $750 per month in addition to your expenses so you can fully enjoy Costa Rican living and all the paid workshops and events that go on here and in the local area. If you choose to have a private room, it will be an open-air casita.
