The project was a magical place - a very special community in the beautiful Costa Rican jungle with walking trails and a river for swimming. There was incredible biodiversity, sleeping to the sound of howling monkeys, and spotting sloths, frogs, snakes around the finca. There was delicious vego food cooked by the lovely Vane. You can walk to the Puerto Viejo beaches on the weekends too. I learnt so much about permaculture and life. I miss it already and hope to go back one day!

This is a truly special place; the staff offer so much freedom to explore the land & experiment with different materials (bamboo, clay, herbs). There is evidence of each volunteer's contribution to the farm + a deep sense of humility that comes with understanding how each "hormiga" plays a small part in the whole. The permaculture program is a perfect introduction for those who are new to farming and physical work. I learned so much in my two months at the farm (several types of composting, bio-construction, pruning, etc.)
I recommend coming w/ no expectations + letting yourself be surprised!

My girlfriend and I stayed at the finca for two weeks through the Work and Learn program. During our stay, we learned a lot about permaculture and what it means to live and work in a community. We also had the chance to learn extra skills outside the program, like making kombucha, which we both enjoyed. The kitchen chef, Malvi, was very kind and happy to teach us. Everyone at the finca was friendly and welcoming. The finca is beautiful, surrounded by jungle and a small river. The beds are comfortable and the food is delicious.

This place it's truly beautiful and I enjoyed everyday waking up and admiring nature. There is so much to explore and do at the farm. We went on work and learn program and we learned so much (we didn't have any experience in permaculture) Dylan and Chris are loving what they do and they explain everything and answered all my questions and more! I only wish we went full 4 weeks program because due to holidays we only had 1st week education and many free days. Food here was excellent they have their own chef which is skilled and prepared amazing vegetarian meals.

I spent 2 weeks at the beautiful the project as a Work & Learn student! I enjoyed working with Max and Esteban as they are incredibly knowledgeable and kind teachers. However, I felt that management could have been more welcoming to newcomers as I found it difficult to break into the community. I spoke with a few other volunteers who shared similar feelings, which made me wonder if the community atmosphere has changed since many of the earlier reviews. I think the farm could benefit from placing greater emphasis on intentionally including newcomers to foster a more authentic space.

Living at the project was an amazing experience. I was immersed in nature, always listening and seeing the jungle. The bungalows are cozy, big and have a good airflow. The Finca is beautiful, there are many places to explore. The work was as agreed, 4 days social Media (video editing), 1 day Household. I loved it. Naomi gave me a lot of creative space, but also tasks so I could do what I want, but I was not all on my own. Community living was sometimes challenging, but also a valuable learning experience. I met great people. I recommend to read the welcome Guide careful to be prepared.

I planned to stay for two weeks and I only stayed three days. It's not a bad place, but it depends on what you're looking for. Although it's listed as Puerto Viejo, getting there and leaving is tricky. I applied for social media work, but Naomi told me she forgot and that there were already other people, so I ended up washing dishes and putting up shelves. The atmosphere felt rigid and tense; for looking at my phone for a second while working I received a rude remark in a very bad tone. Honestly, to do that kind of work with so much rigidity, I would rather look for paid work. Max and Vanessa are amazing. Check the place before paying.
