Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children? PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) Uganda is a dedicated community initiative in Fort Portal Tourism City and Kabarole district, Western Uganda, focused on empowering children through education and essential resources. We provide exercise books, pens, uniforms, school bags, and scholarships to those in need, striving to create brighter futures for our community’s youth.
Currently, we support 60 vulnerable children, but we need your help to expand our impact! We are seeking compassionate social workers to assist in establishing a vocational skilling center aimed at equipping children who have dropped out of school or cannot pursue higher education with valuable skills for their future.
As a volunteer, you will play a crucial role in providing mentorship, guidance, and support to these children, helping them build confidence and resilience. Together, we can uplift lives, foster hope, and create pathways to success for those who need it most. If you’re ready to be a part of this transformative journey and empower the next generation, we invite you to apply and join us in making a lasting impact in the lives of vulnerable children!
Activities & Shift
As a social worker volunteer with PLATFORM for the NEEDY (PLANE) Uganda, you will engage in a variety of meaningful activities aimed at empowering vulnerable children through education and skills development. You will work on week days Monday to Friday but have two days of rest or off. Your key responsibilities will include:
1. Mentorship and Support: Provide one-on-one mentorship to children, offering guidance and encouragement to help them navigate their educational and personal challenges.
2. Vocational Skills Training: Assist in the development and implementation of vocational training programs, teaching practical skills such as tailoring, carpentry, or computer literacy to children who have dropped out of school.
3. Community Outreach: Conduct outreach activities to identify and connect with vulnerable children in the community, ensuring they receive the support and resources they need.
4. Educational Workshops: Organize and facilitate workshops focused on life skills, financial literacy, and personal development to empower children and prepare them for future opportunities.
5. Resource Distribution: Help distribute essential educational materials, such as exercise books, uniforms, and school supplies, to ensure children have the tools they need to succeed in school.
6. Collaboration with Local Schools: Work closely with local schools and community and international organizations to create partnerships that enhance educational opportunities for vulnerable children.
Through these activities, you will play a vital role in transforming the lives of children in need, helping them build a brighter future.
