Welcome to our little corner of paradise in Cherating, Malaysia!
We're building a relaxed, friendly surf and beach community, combining our Surfing Academy with a laid-back Tiki Bar right by the beach.
We're looking for enthusiastic, open-minded travellers who enjoy the ocean, meeting people from different backgrounds, learning new things and being part of a small team.
This is more than just a volunteering opportunity. It's a chance to experience the local surf lifestyle, connect with the community, share good vibes and enjoy life by the beach.
Help at Surfing Academy
Our academy introduces beginners, families and travellers to the fun of surfing. You can help us with:
Preparing and organising surfboards and equipment before lessons.
Helping set up and tidy the beach area.
Welcoming students and assisting with general arrangements.
Taking photos and videos during surf sessions.
Helping with social media content and promoting our surf activities.
Keeping the equipment clean and organised.
You don't need to be a professional surfer or surf instructor. A love for the ocean and a willingness to learn and help to assist are what matters. Surf instruction itself is handled by our coaches.
Help at Our Tiki Bar by the Beach
Our Tiki Bar is a pool and also casual beach hangout where surfers, travellers and locals can relax, enjoy refreshing drinks and share stories after a day in the ocean.
You may help us with:
Preparing fresh juices, smoothies and simple drinks.
Assisting with basic food and beverage preparation.
Welcoming customers and helping create a friendly atmosphere.
Keeping the bar and surrounding beach area clean and organised.
Helping with creative ideas, promotions and social media.
Occasionally assisting with beach gatherings and small events.
Previous hospitality experience is welcome but not essential. A positive attitude, responsibility and willingness to help are more important.
The shifts
All of us will rotate for morning, afternoon and evening shifts.
Helping us at our surfing academy and our beach bar 4 hours a day and 6 days a week in exchange for accommodation either in a private tent by the beach or shared mixed room in a chalet.
You can do more hours if you want in exchange for our surfboards and other surfing equipments.
We're looking for people who are:
Friendly, responsible and easy-going.
Comfortable working as part of a small international team.
Happy to help with practical tasks, including cleaning and organising.
Interested in surfing, beach life, hospitality or social media.
Independent, adaptable and respectful of the local community.

Dress Code – Relaxed Beach Style
Our Surf Shack and Tiki Bar embrace a relaxed, tropical beach lifestyle. We encourage everyone to express their own personality through their style and enjoy the easy-going atmosphere.
Think bohemian, island-inspired and beach casual – linen, sarongs, beach dresses, flowy skirts, colourful prints, sleeveless tops, shorts and sandals. Dressing up is absolutely welcome too!
There is no uniform or fixed dress code. We simply ask that clothing is reasonably modest, clean and presentable while on duty, particularly when interacting with guests or handling food and drinks.
Swimwear is welcome during your free time at the beach, but please wear suitable attire when working.
