I am looking for the right individual that want to learn about plants 🪴. We are in a very unique environment in 🇨🇦 this is a half-tropical/half-desertic climate. I have been working on this project since 2019 and now I am adding and naturalizing some tropical but also cold hardy plants. I would like someone who has a strong interest with plants 🌱 and want to learn different techniques to grow food. I do both commercial and homesteading approaches coming from the different backgrounds I've learned from. I studied and practiced permaculture for now 13 years and my passion is to pass on that knowledge.
Activities & Shift
At the begining and the end of the season there is pruning on fruit trees and bushes there may also be some plant propagation to do at the nursery during the off season (oct < - > march).
As spring starts we do mix soil to plants seeds. We plant seeds and transplant into different containers (commercial approach of a nursery) most of this will be at home.
As the season advance we mulch the nursery in prevision of the dry summers.
In spring we will prepare beds conventionnally in a tilled gaden at home and also start to manage the ecosystem of the food forest and sowing the first seeds of the season.
As summer comes around the corner, there will be more and more time spent at the nursery. We will start picking fruits and finish harvesting the winter gardens.
When the weather starts to be really hot we will do split shifts with time to go to the beach in the afternoon as it is too hot to work in the hot sun anyways.
Late summer and fall arriving, we will have lots to harvest and to process. It is time for canning, pickling, drying, etc...
Rules
Fires are strictly prohibited around here in the dry season.
