🌿 Join Our 50-Acre Organic Permaculture & Cinnamon Dream in Sri Lanka! 🇱🇰
Location: Near Monaragala, Sri Lanka
Project Type: Organic Farming, Permaculture, Agroforestry & Eco-Tourism
Who we are: An international Christian family (German dad, Sri Lankan mom, and 3 kids) living authentically in a traditional, peaceful Sinhalese Buddhist village.
🏡 About the Project
We are building a sustainable paradise! We are transforming parts of our 50-acre organic permaculture farm into a thriving, no-till, fair-trade cinnamon and agroforest/fruit garden (covering 15 of the 50 acres). Our vision includes integrated cinnamon blocks (spanning 5 acres of actual cinnamon mixed across 15 acres), bananas, fruit trees, medicinal herbs, pepper, and native plants. We preserve the existing wild trees and are building a gentle glamping site on the highest points with breathtaking views for eco-tourism.
🚜 The Mission & Your Tasks
This is real, hard farm work, but highly rewarding for anyone passionate about regenerative agriculture!
Phase 1: The Battle Against the Grass (Current & Ongoing)
Right now, our biggest challenge is managing invasive Giant Mannar Grass.
Cutting down high grass using a brushcutter.
Using the cut grass as heavy mulch to suppress growth and encourage native wild herbs and plants to reclaim the soil.
Phase 2: The Planting Season (Starting October/November with the rains)
Digging planting holes and carrying heavy compost.
Transporting and planting seedlings (cinnamon, bananas, fruit trees).
Fertilizing, mulching, and ongoing maintenance.
