Program Details

Join our team at Green Belly Surf Lodge and spend your days by the ocean while sharing your passion for surfing with travelers from around the world.

As a Surf Instructor Volunteer, you'll help introduce beginners to the sport by assisting with surf lessons, teaching basic techniques, promoting ocean safety, and creating a fun, welcoming atmosphere both in and out of the water. You'll also help prepare and organize surf equipment and support the daily operation of our surf program.

In exchange for your help, you'll become part of our international community, enjoy a unique beach lifestyle, and gain valuable experience while meeting amazing people from all over the world.

What we're looking for:

Confident and experienced surfers.
Friendly, patient, and responsible personalities.
Comfortable teaching beginners.
Good communication skills (English is preferred).

Activities & Shift

- Check and maintain the surfboards.
- 2 daily classes (maximum 3 or 4 students per class).
- Extra classes have an additional cost of GTQ 100.
- Keep the surfboard area clean.
- Prepare a report at the end of the day.


Rules

- Be punctual and ready for every scheduled surf lesson.
- Always prioritize the safety of guests in and out of the water.
- Treat all guests, volunteers, and staff with respect and professionalism.
- Maintain a positive, friendly, and encouraging attitude at all times.
- Take good care of all surf equipment and report any damage immediately.
- Keep the surf area and equipment organized after each lesson.
- Do not consume alcohol or drugs before or during working hours.
- Notify the manager as soon as possible if you are unable to work due to illness or an emergency.
- Wear appropriate clothing and present yourself professionally during lessons.
- Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.
- Follow Green Belly Surf Lodge's house rules and respect quiet hours.
- Minimum commitment: 4 weeks (or your preferred minimum stay).
- Please respect your work schedule and complete all assigned shifts.
