Program Details
I am looking for committed people, long-term stays if possible. A proactive person, with drive and dedication. It is advisable to speak at least Spanish or Catalan to communicate more easily. It is recommended to have a driving license and own vehicle, although not mandatory.
Tasks are varied and not always the same. One day it may be collecting manure, another day putting out food and water, taking a walk and checking the fencing. There are currently few horses (3) and I expect a maximum of 7. Although the work is pleasant, there may be urgent days and it may be necessary to be present.
Working time can vary from day to day and also according to each person’s pace.
I have some small projects I would like to develop with the help of volunteers. For example: we will build a feeding/trough area (this way it ends up stopping the need to feed manually) also we need to finish a pergola and rehabilitate a wooden shed.
I also offer the possibility of collaborating professionally, offering a space to carry out sessions, therapies, training if you are a person who is looking for a space for this. The possibilities are endless.
About the place:
Access: you can get here via the A2 and the AP7. Finally via the C15. And we are in LA FONT DEL BOSC. A very quiet area with a supermarket 200 meters away, restaurants, market, pools, nurseries, schools... we are very well connected; there is even public transport. You can reach us with any vehicle.
About the accommodation:
It is a open-plan wooden hut.
According to the needs of each volunteer, a bed, a kitchen, table, chairs, sink and the necessary utensils can be provided.
If you travel by camper van, there is also the possibility of staying in your camper or using the hut with your own materials and utensils. Customized in each case.
It is important to respect rest and tranquility, so I look for calm people, with a good relation with others. Just as it is forbidden to play loud music, or cause a disturbance
Any request is heard without issue, I am flexible with what is needed.
Activities & Shift
The days and the schedule are flexible. To be agreed with each volunteer.
Daily tasks are:
- Check that there is enough food, and replenish when necessary
- Check water points
- Remove manure from specific zones
- Check that the horses are well. If any problem is observed, it must be reported.
Specific tasks:
- Check fencing (usually no problems)
- Clean troughs. We keep them clean.
Occasional tasks:
- Provide cures to a horse (depending on knowledge and experience)
- Mini-projects (feeding trough, pergola, forest cleaning, demolish, etc)
The hours dedicated depend on the speed of the person. I take 1-2h.
Most importantly I want to clarify that you do not work by the hour, but by tasks, each at their own pace.
They are not complicated tasks nor time-consuming, but I need help because the project has a lot of responsibility and I have been running it alone for 5 years and need help.
Rules
There aren’t many rules, but common sense, respect and assertiveness; we want good coexistence.
There is a designated parking area; vehicles cannot be left anywhere.
Use water and electricity responsibly.
Do not play loud music or cause a disturbance.
Use materials and utensils properly.
You cannot bring companions or friends without consulting first.
A trial period is established where we can check if both sides feel comfortable with the agreements.
According to the agreement, if you stay in the wooden hut, a deposit will be agreed depending on what you have to provide (bed, kitchen, utensils, furniture, etc).
At the end of the volunteering period the deposit will be returned as long as everything is correct. If something needs to be changed, it would be deducted from the deposit.
If volunteering ends after the trial period, a notice must be given to organize it properly. If volunteering ends without notice, the deposit would be lost.
All measures are to guarantee commitment. Nothing has ever happened and deposits have always been returned.
Any questions or additional information can be arranged without problem.
