Program Details

Our volunteer programme is designed for compassionate, reliable individuals who are passionate about animal welfare and committed to providing the highest standard of care for our rescue cats and kittens. Volunteers play an essential role in ensuring the shelter remains clean, safe and enriching while supporting the daily wellbeing of our feline residents.

Full training will be provided before your placement begins, and our team will guide you through all daily routines and procedures.

We provide rice, pasta, oils, basic condiments, spices, occasionally tea, coffee and some extras. Everything we supply will be vegan and you will need to to purchase your own protein and vegetables.

Activities & Shift

Volunteers are required to commit 25 hours per week.

Primary responsibilities include:

Cleaning and maintaining excellent hygiene standards throughout the shelter.
Weighing and monitoring cats.
Preparing and serving food.
Cleaning and replenishing litter boxes.
Sweeping, mopping and disinfecting floors and surfaces.
Observing cats for any changes in behaviour or health and reporting concerns.

This role is best suited to someone who is physically active, dependable, responsible and happy to follow instructions while working as part of a team.

There are three daily shifts:

Morning Shift (9:00 am – 1:00 pm)

Deep clean assigned area (Cat cafe or rescue house & nursery)
Weighing and monitoring cats
Morning feeding
Litter box cleaning
Deep cleaning and maintenance of environment

Afternoon Shift (3:00 pm)

Feeding
Litter box inspection and cleaning
Light cleaning and welfare checks

Evening Shift (8:00 pm)

Evening feeding
Litter box inspection and cleaning
Light cleaning and welfare checks

The volunteer role is physically demanding and involves cleaning, maintenance, caring for cats and getting your hands dirty. We are looking for people who are dedicated to the shelter mission, love cats, have stamina and energy, are flexible and adaptable, and are comfortable with hard physical work.

This is not an easy role in exchange for free accommodation and food.

Volunteers are required to submit photos and brief observations after each shift to help monitor the health and wellbeing of the cats. Shelter areas are also monitored by CCTV to ensure the safety and welfare of both the cats and volunteers.
