Program Details
Our place is a boutique property in San Marcos La Laguna, on the shores of Lake Atitlán. We run guest cabins, a vegan restaurant, daily rooftop yoga, and a month-long retreat program. We are a short walk from town, right beside the nature reserve, and just steps from the lake.
San Marcos is a small, conscious, spiritual village full of permaculture, yoga, cacao, artists, and travelers who came for a week and stayed for a year.
We need a personal assistant volunteer who is also a strong vegan cook. The volunteer work is the main role, and cooking is a daily secondary part of it.
What you need:
-Intermediate Spanish. Most people here speak only Spanish, so you must be able to handle errands on your own.
-Intermediate English, since that is how we communicate.
-Confidence cooking vegan and vegetarian food.
-Organization and self-direction. You should be able to take a task and finish it without being chased.
What we offer:
-Private cabin with private entry and a key code lock, in a secure gated property.
-Private bathroom with hot water.
-Bed, desk, and wardrobe.
-High-speed Wi-Fi in your cabin and across the property.
-Shared community kitchen.
-Rooftop terrace and beautiful garden spaces.
-Daily rooftop yoga.
-Free time to explore the lake, hike the volcanoes, and settle into life here. 🌋
Activities & Shift
Main role: personal assistant volunteer
Day-to-day tasks vary and are usually small and practical. Examples of what may come up:
-Running errands in town.
-Printing documents.
-Getting copies of keys made.
-Buying supplies and picking things up.
-Shopping at the local market.
-General support with whatever needs doing around the property.
None of it is complicated, but it does require someone who can be handed a task and simply get it done, in Spanish, without hand-holding.
Secondary role: cooking.
-You will prepare one meal a day for the owner. The food should be vegan or vegetarian, healthy, and genuinely delicious. You will also clean the kitchen and your workspace afterward.
Shifts:
-3 to 4 hours a day.
-5 days a week.
-2 days off.
Rules
-The community kitchen is fully vegetarian. No meat or fish may be brought in, stored, or cooked on site.
-No smoking anywhere on the property.
-No pets.
-Clean up after yourself in the kitchen and all shared spaces.
-Respect the quiet of the property and the neighbors. This is a guest facility in a residential village.
-Minimum commitment is 1 month. Please only apply if you can honor that.
-Be reliable. If you say you will handle something, handle it.
