Welcome to the Isle of Avalon! If you are looking for a completely unique travel experience that trades standard hotel bills for hands-on, rewarding work, this free homestay in the heart of Somerset is your perfect landing pad. We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic helper to exchange a few hours of DIY and home improvement for free, comfortable accommodation.

Whether you are handy with a paintbrush, skilled at minor repairs, or just eager to roll up your sleeves and learn, your efforts will help transform our space while giving you the ultimate local experience. When you are not helping out, you will be living in one of the most mythical, vibrant, and beautiful corners of the UK.

Glastonbury is a town unlike any other—a bohemian haven where ancient history meets legendary folklore. You can spend your mornings hiking up the iconic Glastonbury Tor to take in panoramic views of the Somerset Levels, or exploring the dramatic, atmospheric ruins of Glastonbury Abbey, the rumored final resting place of King Arthur.

The town itself is a bustling, colorful maze of independent cafes, quirky esoteric bookshops, and crystal stores. Soak in the peaceful tranquility of the Chalice Well and Gardens, or witness the subterranean wonders of the White Spring.

Beyond the town limits, you are perfectly positioned to explore the wider region. You can easily take a day trip to Wells, England’s smallest and incredibly picturesque cathedral city, marvel at the jaw-dropping cliffs of Cheddar Gorge, or go birdwatching across the sweeping wetlands of the Avalon Marshes.

This stay offers the perfect balance: active, satisfying days giving back to a home, paired with total freedom to immerse yourself in Somerset’s magic.
