Back To the Roots / Returning to the Roots

The experience

This project stems from my childhood, inspired by my grandparents and Canarian traditions. We reclaim family lands through regenerative and syntropic agriculture, combining crops, livestock, and sustainability. We aim to preserve ancestral knowledge, promote food sovereignty, and create a space for cultural exchange and mutual learning. If you love nature and want to help us, and learn along the way, welcome!

Program Details

Our day-to-day life seeks a balance between work, learning and enjoying the surroundings. We are currently in the project construction stage, creating part of the estate's infrastructure and carrying out maintenance tasks, in addition to collaborating on different tasks related to regenerative agriculture and bioconstruction.

We work 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, always aiming for work to be an opportunity to learn and share knowledge.
At noon we gather to eat as a family, enjoying homemade food and a moment to chat and get to know each other better.
The afternoons are completely free to rest or explore the island. You can go hiking, visit nearby towns, enjoy the pool during the summer, or relax on the beach, which thanks to the Canary climate can be enjoyed practically year-round.

At sunset we usually gather on the rooftop to drink tea while we watch the mountain change color with the sunset. It is a moment to share stories, experiences and ideas with people from different cultures, creating a close and enriching atmosphere.

More than a place to come and share your knowledge and experiences, we want this to be a space where you can learn, connect with nature, discover the Canarian culture and feel part of the family during your stay.

Activities & Shift

We are currently expanding the chicken coop, which is the last remaining piece of infrastructure before we can enable the area for future workshops and activities.

Rules

Rules and coexistence

We want this project to work as a big family, where respect, collaboration and shared responsibility are part of everyday life.

We believe that living together also means taking care of shared spaces. My father is in charge of preparing meals from Monday to Friday and, together, we organize ourselves to wash the dishes after each meal. We take care of cleaning the kitchen, the shower and the ground floor of the house.

Volunteers, for their part, contribute once a week to the cleaning of the bathroom on the terrace and the terrace itself, which are the spaces they mainly use.

Our philosophy is very simple: everyone cleans up what they dirty and takes care of their own "square meter". If we all take responsibility for what we generate, no one has to clean behind someone else and living together becomes much more pleasant for everyone.

We also ask for respect for rest hours, responsible use of water and electricity, and an open, positive and communicative attitude. If any problem or discomfort arises, we prefer to talk about it honestly and resolve it together.

And one last rule, perhaps the most important: Drama Free Zone! 😊 We believe in communication, respect and good humor. Misunderstandings are talked through, differences are respected and problems are solved by dialoguing. We want this to be a place where people feel comfortable, enjoy the experience and help create a positive atmosphere for everyone.
