Program Details

At UVLIA in Mayuge we run agriculture and food security programs with children, youth and families.

A typical day starts with morning work in the garden from 8am to 12pm. Volunteers work alongside children to plant vegetables, weed, water, make compost and care for sack gardens and school farms. In the afternoon we do nutrition lessons, cooking demos, and small projects like poultry or goat rearing.

Volunteers teach simple organic farming methods that work in Mayuge like mulching, crop rotation and natural pest control. You will also help us document the work with photos and simple reports.

No farming experience is needed. We provide training and local support. The goal is to improve food security, teach children new skills, and create income for families.

Volunteers live with a host family and get 3 meals per day with local Ugandan food. We ask for a $10 one-time contribution to help cover meals, accommodation and garden materials.

Come join us and help plant seeds of hope in Mayuge.
