Teaching English to the kids was a great chance to let go of my ego, feel free from the pressure of work, and enjoy the lessons with pure-hearted children. I had never realized that interconnection was so important until the locals invited me to join their meals. The people are sociable, friendly, and hospitable. They are the main characters of my story in Ha Giang, it's not just about how stunning the scenery is, but about how they inspired me to find a more suitable way of living.
I am deeply grateful to Khai's family, Mr. Tony, and Ms. Thi for hosting me with such respect and thoughtfulnes

My experience there was amazing. I met a lot of local people and discovered places that you usually only get to know if you stay for a couple of weeks. The classes were super fun and interactive with the kids, and you also have enough time to go out and explore the area.
I 100% recommend it if you like local experiences.

Thank you, Alex, for the amazing month you spent with us.
During this time, you brought so many beautiful memories, laughter, and meaningful moments to everyone. Through you, we shared cultures, learned more about Vietnam and its traditions, and most importantly, created a truly human connection.
The kids loved you so much, and saying goodbye was not easy at all.
This was more than just a volunteer experience — it was a heartfelt journey that we will always cherish.

The project has a few sites. I was volunteering in Meo Vac and I truly had the time of my life. Stayed three weeks, and I was taken care of nicely. I was provided with lunch and dinner, and I was teaching English - two classes a day. The kids were amazing, full of energy and enthusiastic. Don't be afraid if you have never thought before, you can do it, and you will surely have fun. I loved my time there. I will keep the memories in my heart forever.

Our stay was cut short to one week. We found ourselves caught in disputes between the Homestay and the hosts. The situation was extremely uncomfortable, and we received neither information about what was happening nor any support from the hosts. When we spoke to them, they simply accepted that we did not want to continue and left us on our own in accommodation that had nothing to do with this platform.
The idea behind the project is very good, but because of the hosts, I would not recommend this experience to anyone. We also learned from previous volunteers that they had gone through similar.

Hi Ana, thank you for sharing your experience. We’re truly sorry you arrived during such a difficult and unstable period for the project. The situation escalated very quickly, and while trying to manage it, we failed to communicate clearly. We completely understand why you felt uncomfortable and caught in the middle. We genuinely appreciate your honesty and are now seriously restructuring the project for future volunteers.

The experience was not pleasant at all. It all started with lies and half-truths. The relationship between the project and the homestay had already broken down at that time, and we found ourselves caught in a cross-conflict that we were not only unrelated to, but completely unaware was even happening. The organization did not help us feel comfortable or supported, which is why we were unable to complete our experience and had to leave earlier than expected.

I hope that in future projects the organizers take better care of the volunteers, because I believe they are trying to do valuable work.

I spent one month with the project as a volunteer teacher. I taught in Ha Giang city the first two weeks then moved to Meo Vac for the last two. The schedule was pretty easy, with 1-2 classes per day leaving most of the day free to explore or help out at the homestay. The lessons for each the project had to be planned by the volunteers, but it wasn't too difficult. Overall, I had a great experience where I was able to interact with many new people who I can now call my friends. Best of luck to the project and to any future volunteers!

We stayed with the project in Ha Giang for 5 weeks and had the best experience. This was our first volunteering position so we weren't sure what we were getting ourselves into, but honestly we couldn't have had a better community and location. Everyone was so accommodating and friendly, and invited us to join in on local traditions and festivities the whole time we were there. All the students were keen to learn and very thankful for our knowledge we were able to share with them.
