Program Details

You will join our dedicated local team in the coastal town of Itacaré, Bahia, supporting educational initiatives designed to empower children in our neighborhood community.

As a volunteer, you will work alongside local staff and other international volunteers to create a warm, engaging, and creative learning environment. Your day-to-day role includes assisting with classes (chess, arts, science club), tutoring homework, teaching English, preparing and serving meals, and cleaning the various project spaces and the kitchen.

This program offers a genuine cultural exchange in the heart of the vibrant Afro-Brazilian culture of the Bahia region. Upon arrival, you will receive a guided tour of the city and its tropical beaches, helping you quickly feel at home in our neighborhood, located just a short walk from both downtown and the coast.

It is the perfect opportunity for anyone passionate about working with youth, promoting social justice, and helping broaden future opportunities for local children. Our team provides initial orientation, hands-on training, and ongoing support throughout your entire stay to help you integrate smoothly and find your place within ETIV.

To ensure a positive experience for both volunteers and the community, participants are asked to follow a few simple guidelines:

• Respect local culture and community values with patience, flexibility, and an open mind.
• Be punctual and committed to your volunteering activities.
• Support teachers alongside local staff, rather than taking over the classes.
• Maintain a friendly and respectful attitude towards students, staff, and neighbors.
