Help us bring our gardens back to life! We’re looking for someone who enjoys gardening and outdoor maintenance. We have three gardens, a patio and a roof terrace that need planting, pruning, weeding, general maintenance and the occasional fence-painting project.

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Join us at our family-run homes just outside Durham and help us care for our gardens while enjoying life in beautiful North East England.
We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys gardening and being outdoors. In exchange for around 20 hours of help each week, you’ll have your own private bedroom, access to all shared facilities, Wi-Fi, laundry, and plenty of free time to explore Durham, Newcastle, Northumberland and the surrounding countryside.
This isn’t a commercial gardening job. You’ll become part of our daily life, working alongside us to keep the gardens looking beautiful and well maintained.
The position is available between March and October, when the gardens need the most attention.
Approximately 20 hours per week, usually spread over 4–5 days. Working hours are flexible and depend on the weather.
Typical tasks include:
* Planting seasonal flowers and shrubs
* Weeding flower beds and borders
* Watering plants
* Pruning and trimming shrubs
* Lawn maintenance
* Sweeping and weeding patios, pathways and driveways
* General garden maintenance
* Helping paint fences and other outdoor woodwork when required
* Keeping outdoor spaces clean and welcoming
We have:
* 3 gardens
* one terrace
* one patio
Some gardening experience is preferred, especially if you know how to care for plants, but enthusiasm and willingness to learn are just as important.
No smoking or vaping anywhere inside the property.
* No visitors without prior agreement.
* Quiet hours between 10:00 pm and 7:00 am.
* Please keep your bedroom and shared areas clean and tidy.
* Respect our home, neighbours and fellow guests.
* If you’re unable to work due to illness or other circumstances, please let us know as soon as possible.

* Volunteers are expected to work the agreed hours before making day-trip or travel plans.
