Program Details
We’re a warm and welcoming Polish family living in a peaceful village just outside the beautiful city of Durham in the North East of England.
We’re looking for a kind, Polish-speaking volunteer who would enjoy spending time with my wonderful mum. Following a stroke a few years ago, she sometimes feels isolated and misses having conversations in her native language. She loves chatting over a cup of tea, going for gentle walks, watching television, listening to music and simply enjoying good company.
This is not a care or nursing role. My mum is independent in her daily routine, and we’re simply looking for someone who can brighten her days through friendship, conversation and companionship.
In return, you’ll have your own private bedroom in our family home, access to all shared facilities, high-speed Wi-Fi, and plenty of free time to explore Durham, Newcastle, the stunning Northumberland coastline, castles, the Lake District or York.
We hope you’ll feel like part of the family during your stay. We enjoy sharing meals, exchanging stories about our cultures and helping our guests discover the best of the North East. If you’re kind, patient and enjoy meaningful conversations, we’d love to welcome you into our home.
