Program Details

WindAid Institute is a US-Peruvian non-profit organization dedicated to providing renewable energy technology to rural communities in Peru that lack access to electricity. We develop solutions to this challenge by harnessing wind power to provide a clean and reliable source of electricity.

In addition, WindAid operates as an educational institute, hosting hands-on workshops on wind turbine manufacturing and welcoming students from around the world.

Our mission is to bring electricity to rural and remote communities in Peru by donating small wind turbines and solar power systems to families not connected to the electrical grid. These solutions provide basic lighting and the ability to charge mobile phones, helping families stay connected to the world.

Activities & Shift

Each volunteer will have the opportunity to experience a different stage in the construction of the wind turbine through a weekly rotation led by the team in charge.

The work schedule is from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in our workshop from Monday to Thursday and from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday.

The Wind/Solar program offers hands-on experience in the construction of some wind turbine parts and installation of a solar panel system or to do any wind turbine maintenance; combined with a cultural immersion experience alongside the local community and other students. The structure of our 2-week program is as follows:

Weeks 1: Introduction, workshop training and wind turbine construction.

Weeks 2: Wind turbine construction and community immersion.
