Program Details

The Golden Stork is a canal-side hostel on the Bierkade in Den Haag, running for nine years and owned by the people who work here. We're looking for a handyman to join for a work and stay period, helping fix up the building while living in it. The work is real and visible: paint, flooring, lockers, small repairs, the kind of jobs that make the place better week by week. You'll be based in a working hostel with guests, staff and evening events going on around you, and be part of a small team that runs its own place.

Activities & Shift

Daily work covers paint work through rooms and hallways, laying and touching up flooring, fixing lockers and doors, and general hands-on repairs as they come up. You'll usually work a few hours a day, most days of the week. Tasks are assigned each morning based on what needs doing that day, and once you're shown how something works you're trusted to get on with it independently.

Rules

Tools and materials are provided; bring your own basic kit if you have one. Work is expected to be done carefully and finished properly, not rushed. Quiet hours and house rules apply the same as for guests. Any damage or issues with tools or materials should be flagged straight away rather than left. We ask for reliability: if you can't make a shift, let us know as early as possible so we can adjust
