Program Details

We are starting the implementation of a nursery for native Cerrado seedlings in an area dedicated to environmental conservation, archaeology, and education in Serra do Cipó. The project is starting essentially from zero, and we want volunteers to actively participate in its construction.

We are especially looking for people with knowledge or experience in nurseries, seedling production, botany, forest engineering, biology, agronomy, ecology, or environmental restoration. This knowledge will be highly valued, as we want to learn, test solutions suited to our reality, and build a structure that will remain in the Park after the experience.

The proposal is an exchange: we share our knowledge about archaeology, heritage, territory, and cultural astronomy, while the volunteer contributes to the development of this new conservation front in the Cerrado.

Activities & Shift

Activities will be carried out mainly during the day and involve outdoor work. Among them are the organization and setup of the nursery space, preparation of containers and substrates, sowing, irrigation, and care of the seedlings, composting, species identification, and other activities related to native seedling production.

We may also undertake hikes to recognize the local vegetation and, when technically appropriate, activities related to seeds of native species.

As the nursery is in an initial phase, we value volunteers with experience who can share knowledge, suggest good practices, and help think of simple and sustainable solutions for its implementation.

Activities will be adapted to weather conditions and to the project's needs.
