We had a beautiful stay in July 26' the Host Alan and fellow Staff is online or available at any hour and happy to help with anything! We enjoyed our solitude in a traditional house, the bikes that are available and the luxury of getting fresh vegetables, bread, eggs and condiments from our host. Various Beaches, Temples and Museums are close by on the island, the surrounding islands are easily accessible by boats/ ferries, just keep the time tables in mind:)!

We had a great time volunteering in the guest house - the host and managers were very kind, generous and sociable and really made it a great experience. The managers helped us learn more about Japanese culture and food, which was a lot of fun. The other volunteers were lovely and we had a great time exploring the guest house and the nearby islands (which was really easy!) The work was easy and the three hours flew by each day. The only thing we would suggest is that (potentially in the off season) the volunteer house toilet could be improved, as it can be a bit of an issue when the house is full.

The tasks were split between gardening and cleaning the beautiful airbnb's. Work is done in the morning. It is all pretty fun. The town is very small so getting to and from work takes no more than 15 minutes walking.

Alan, the host, is very nice and so is the rest of the team. We really bonded with the other volunteers in the house.

This was our best experience so far.

This was a nice volunteering experience. We've been working usually from 9 am for 2-3 hours maximum. The main tasks is to clean houses owned by the host but this may vary since I was during the peak of the tourist season. For that we got free accommodation in the island, sometimes host provided free products from his garden as fruits. We didn't spend much time with the host, but we had amazing time with the other volunteers and Japanese workers. I learned a lot from them about Japanese food, culture and language. This place best for the people who like slow living and spend their time alone.

It was a great experience, I spent 4 weeks and there were only two of us volunteers, the work was fine and it gave plenty of time to explore the island and other places. The staff was really incredible, I definitely enjoyed the tranquility of the island and its laid-back pace.

Alan and his team were really welcoming and kind from the start.
They were very nice, but also trainers to explain the different tasks to be carried out.
Doing these four weeks of volunteering alongside them was a real human experience, rich in sharing but also in friendship.
During this volunteering period I really felt like I had become part of a family.
Finally, having the possibility to do volunteering at the guesthouse is really a nice experience for anyone who wants to experience rural and peaceful Japanese life :)

The experience was very nice for connecting with rural life; the tasks were pleasant, and in the off-season we helped with the chickens and goats. The volunteers' house, dating from the 1950s, is cozy, and like a pleasant trip back in time, the uncomfortable part is that the toilet is a latrine, tucked inside the house and with a seat but with a bad odor, something I would have appreciated knowing because in the photos there was a modern bathroom of an Airbnb located 10 minutes by bike away. Still, the electric bikes that the host lent us made exploring the island much easier.
