Our volunteer program is designed for people who genuinely enjoy working with young children and want to become an active part of our preschool community in Cusco 🌈👧👦.
Our MAIN NEED is classroom support for children between 2 AND 4 YEARS OLD. Volunteers work alongside our preschool teachers throughout the school day, helping them create a safe, caring, organized, and engaging environment.
Your role is not to replace the teacher. You will be there to SUPPORT THE TEACHER and give the children additional attention and interaction.
Your daily responsibilities may include:
• Helping welcome the children and supporting them during morning routines
• Staying attentive during playtime and activities to prevent children from hurting themselves or others
• Supporting the teacher during songs, games, creative activities, meals, and classroom transitions 🎨🎶
• Helping children complete age-appropriate activities
• Assisting with classroom organization and cleaning after activities
• Helping during snack and lunchtime routines
• Accompanying young children to the bathroom when necessary
• Supporting the little ones during emotional moments, including crying or separation from their parents
• Interacting naturally with the children throughout the day
The MOST IMPORTANT part of the experience is ENGLISH IMMERSION 🌎🗣️.
Our children come from families where English is generally not spoken at home. One of the greatest contributions an international volunteer can make is simply talking, playing, singing, and interacting with them IN ENGLISH.
For this reason, volunteers must speak ONLY ENGLISH with the children during classroom time. Spanish should not be used with them in class.

Volunteers support our teachers for 5 HOURS PER DAY, Monday to Friday. We have TWO SCHOOL LOCATIONS in Cusco, and volunteers will be assigned according to the needs of each classroom.
Our greatest need is usually with children aged 2 TO 3 YEARS OLD 👶🌈, so volunteers should be comfortable working closely with toddlers.
Daily activities include:
• Supporting the teacher throughout the school day
• Speaking and interacting with children ONLY IN ENGLISH 🗣️
• Supervising children during play and activities to help prevent accidents
• Helping with games, songs, crafts, and educational activities 🎨🎶
• Supporting children during classroom transitions and routines
• Helping during snacks and meals
• Accompanying children to the bathroom when necessary
• Comforting children when they are upset or adjusting to school
• Helping children complete their activities
• Keeping learning and play areas clean and organized
• Helping the teacher maintain a safe, calm, and positive classroom environment 💛
The volunteer is always there to SUPPORT THE TEACHER rather than replace them. Working with toddlers requires constant attention, patience, energy, and flexibility.
The exact classroom and school location may vary according to where your help is needed most during your stay.
To keep the volunteer experience safe, respectful, and comfortable for everyone, we ask all Worldpackers to follow these basic rules:
• A valid CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK is required before arrival.
• VALID TRAVEL INSURANCE is mandatory for the entire stay.
• Volunteers must provide an EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBER.
• We currently DO NOT ACCEPT VEGAN VOLUNTEERS. VEGETARIAN VOLUNTEERS ARE WELCOME 🥗.
• NO DRUGS are allowed during the volunteer period.
• NO PARTIES are allowed inside the volunteer apartment.
• Alcohol is not allowed inside the house.
• The accommodation is a PRIVATE, INDEPENDENT APARTMENT shared only by female volunteers.
• Volunteers are responsible for keeping the apartment CLEAN AND ORGANIZED 🧹.
• Quiet hours begin at 10:00 P.M. Please respect neighbors and the other volunteers who need to rest.
• External visitors are not allowed inside the apartment.
• Shared spaces such as the kitchen, bathroom, and living room must be cleaned after use.
• Volunteers are expected to respect the school, the teachers, the children, and each other at all times.
• ENGLISH ONLY is required when interacting with the children during class time.
