Being at the farm was an incredibly rewarding experience. I went there seeking to learn and connect with people, and I also found a home. Gabriella is a wonderful person with a great personality and wisdom. She creates beautiful spaces and a wonderful community among her guests, which she made me feel a part of. And I would say that was the key to being able to give my 100% when doing my job. I felt like I belonged there and wanted to give my best and put my heart into every task, from cleaning the rooms to the heaviest chores in the farm. Eternally grateful❤️

I spent 1 month at the farm, and after lots of traveling and moving around, the quietness and nature was exactly what I needed. As it was the shoulder season, there weren't many guests and so we (me and one other volunteer) spent most of our time with general cleaning and renovations of the property. We did some landscaping, painting (with lime) and helped build a shelter for the rabbits they have, which was difficult but fulfilling personally. Hours were always respected, Gabriella makes amazing food and always took care of us. Also there is a beautiful beach 3mins away by foot.

Unfortunately, this experience did not match the listing.

The accommodation differed from the photos, as the volunteer rooms were open shelters rather than proper rooms.

Meals were repetitive and limited. There were also issues with basic facilities, including a prolonged lack of running water.

The biggest issue for me was the workspace. I had informed the host that I work remotely and needed a private, quiet space, but none of the available areas were suitable.

Overall I felt the experience was more focused on free labour than on the cultural exchange described.

I would like to clarify one important point for future hosts and volunteers. Before your arrival, I was not aware that you worked remotely, it was never communicated that you would need a completely private, quiet room for around eight hours a day for video meetings with your camera and microphone. If I had known this in advance, I would have explained that our place is a shared, community-based eenvironment and that I cannot provide a private office for daily remote work.
