Program Details

From Classroom to Living Room and Beyond: Full English Immersion Program in Magelang is a warm cultural exchange program connecting international volunteers with local communities in Magelang, Central Java. The idea is simple: learn, share, connect, and enjoy a meaningful experience together. Volunteers meet local children, families, teachers, youth, and communities while discovering everyday life in Magelang.

The program has three parts: Classroom, Living Room, and Beyond. In the Classroom, volunteers join local teachers in fun English activities at primary schools through games, songs, stories, conversations, and cultural sharing. In the Living Room, volunteers may stay with local host families, share meals, chat, help with daily activities, learn local customs, and experience family life. In the Beyond experience, volunteers can meet local youth, visit villages, discover traditions, explore village tourism, meet artisans and small businesses, and join community or cultural activities whenever possible.

More than teaching English, this program is about people meeting people. Volunteers share their language, culture, stories, skills, and experiences while learning from Indonesian children, families, teachers, and communities. No professional teaching experience is required; being friendly, responsible, open-minded, respectful, and willing to participate is what matters most.

This is a cultural exchange and community volunteering program, not paid employment. Volunteers participate on a non-commercial basis, contributing their time, energy, ideas, and enthusiasm while becoming part of the local community.

I would be happy to welcome travelers who are respectful, open-minded, and interested in experiencing Indonesia beyond the usual tourist destinations. 🌿

Activities & Shift

Volunteers usually spend around 5–6 hours a day, 5 days a week, with a flexible schedule agreed together. Activities may include joining English sessions at local schools, preparing fun games or simple learning activities, chatting and practicing English with children, helping with community activities, meeting local youth, exploring village life, and joining cultural events when available. The schedule can be adjusted depending on school and community activities. We value a relaxed atmosphere, so there is also plenty of time to explore Magelang, meet people, enjoy local food, or simply rest and experience Indonesia at your own pace.
