Program Details
We are looking for creative volunteers, ideally with experience or good skills in painting, drawing, muralism, illustration, or artistic composition.
The main task will be to help us bring life and identity to the hostel rooms. Each room is named after a representative animal of the Andean territory, and we want to develop murals, paintings or interventions inspired by each of them, while also respecting the style and creativity of each volunteer.
Additionally, they will be able to collaborate in decoration and visual improvement of common spaces, proposing new ideas, designs and elements that help create a warmer environment and connected with the identity of Chusmiza.
We expect responsible people, careful with spaces and with a real desire to contribute. We highly value initiative, so we are open to hearing proposals and developing ideas together.
In exchange, you will receive accommodation and meals, as well as the opportunity to live a unique experience in Chusmiza, in the heart of the precordillera at 3,300 meters above sea level. You will be able to explore ancestral routes accompanied by our llamas, enjoy the town's hot springs and live in a natural mountain environment, tranquility and Andean culture. We want your time in this place to also be an experience of connection with the territory, while you leave a work that will remain as part of its history.
Activities & Shift
Activities will be focused mainly on painting, muralism and decoration of rooms and common spaces.
Typical activities:
Design and planning of murals according to the animal of each room.
Preparation of surfaces and materials.
Painting, drawing, illustration and creation of murals.
Decoration and visual improvement of common spaces.
Organization and cleaning of materials and work areas.
Proposing new artistic ideas to enrich the hostel's identity.
The work day will be 5 hours per day, five days a week, with two days off previously coordinated. Shifts will mainly take place during the day to take advantage of natural light and will be organized according to the progress of each project.
We aim to maintain a flexible and well-coordinated dynamic, so that in addition to volunteering you can have time to rest, get to know Chusmiza, walk its ancestral routes and enjoy its hot springs.
Rules
We want to maintain an environment of respect, collaboration and good coexistence. We ask all Worldpackers:
Always maintain respect towards the team, other volunteers, guests and the local community.
Take care of and respect the natural and cultural environment of Chusmiza.
Maintain order and cleanliness in rooms, common spaces and work areas.
Maintain a suitable personal appearance during activities.
Do not smoke inside rooms or indoor spaces.
Take care of the hostel's materials, tools and equipment.
Promptly report any problem, need, accident or situation that may affect coexistence or work.
We especially value good communication, responsibility and mutual respect.
