Program Details
⌛Period: 2–3 months, ideally from March to May, with flexible dates.
⛱️This is high season, so the weather is usually beautiful, and you will have plenty of free time to enjoy the area. All services, including bars, restaurants, and supermarkets, are generally open. Please note that accommodation prices are usually quite high during these months.
🏡House and facilities🛠️: A rural, tropical home suitable for independent people who are accustomed to country living. Water and electricity must be used carefully. The ability to manage the facilities, solve minor problems, and take care of routine maintenance is required. Fences and nets must also be checked regularly to ensure that the animals do not escape.
🐾Animals: 4 goats, 4 dogs, 4 cats, chickens, and roosters.🐐
Every day, they need to be fed; the goats and chickens must be locked up in the evening, the cats kept indoors at night, and the dogs kept on the terrace or in the garden.
🐕Dogs and transportation🛵: Whenever possible, the dogs should be taken to the beach by scooter to swim and play. It is therefore essential to be able to ride a scooter confidently, which is also useful for reaching beaches, the supermarket, and other services. A scooter can be rented or borrowed from a friend at a favorable price.
👥Ideal profile: A slightly older couple or a family with experience caring for animals is preferred. The position is particularly suitable for someone who works online and spends a lot of time at home. Independence, familiarity with rural life, the ability to handle routine maintenance, and the capacity to deal with minor breakdowns are also important. This position is not suitable for very young people without experience.
Activities & Shift
There are no fixed shifts or working hours. This is house sitting, so the idea is to live here and take care of the house and animals as if they were your own.
The animals need to be fed twice a day: in the morning when you wake up and in the evening before going to bed (or when you return from the beach).
Before it gets dark, the goats and chickens should be put safely in their enclosures. They can be left free during the day, but you will quickly see why it is important to secure them at night — otherwise the goats and chickens love to come into the house and leave little “presents” everywhere! 😂
Whenever you leave the house, please make sure all doors and windows are properly closed (they don’t need to be locked). We don’t really have problems with people coming in, but we do have monkeys, goats and chickens who are perfectly capable of inviting themselves inside!
Apart from these basic responsibilities, you are free to organise your own time and enjoy the island. The house simply needs to be kept clean and treated with the same care and respect you would give to your own home.
🤑💸As an added advantage, during high season, a private house on Koh Phayam can cost around €1,500–2,000 or more per month. Here, you can enjoy a spacious private home that can accommodate 4–6 people at a very small daily contribution, making it a very affordable option, especially for two couples or a family.
Rules
This is a Thai-owned home, so please treat it with maximum care, respect and responsibility.
-The house is provided for house sitting, not for renting or subletting. All house sitters will be registered with Immigration, so no other people may stay or sleep in the house. The only exception would be a partner or close family member, and this must be agreed with me and/or the Thai owner in advance.
-Please respect Thai law and local regulations. In particular, Thailand’s cannabis laws have recently changed, so please do not smoke or use cannabis inside the house. If you use cannabis, make sure you are doing so legally in a permitted place and always ask first if you are unsure.
Nothing in the house should be damaged. Please take care of the property and carry out small maintenance or repairs when needed. Damage caused by negligence or misuse may result in additional costs.
Simply treat the house and care about animals as if it were your own.
