Program Details

Dimora Arts Foundation is a new arts and cultural project in Puerto Rico. We are transforming a donated house in Río Piedras into the first home of an artist residency and creative community. Volunteers will help us prepare the house and grounds while we build the project together. This is an early-stage project, so there will be plenty to do and plenty of opportunity to contribute ideas, skills, and creativity.

Activities & Shift

Activities may include general cleaning and organizing, repairing and installing windows and doors, painting, basic home repairs, gardening, assembling furniture, and helping install a refrigerator and stove when they become available. We will provide the tools and materials we have and work together on projects. We ask for approximately 4–5 hours of help per day, 5 days per week, with two days off to explore Puerto Rico, rest, or pursue your own interests. Specific tasks will depend on the needs of the house and the skills of the volunteer.

Rules

Dimora is a non-violent, respectful, inclusive environment. Everyone is expected to treat other people, animals, the house, and the surrounding community with care. No violence, harassment, discrimination, or illegal drugs. Volunteers must communicate honestly, respect agreed schedules and responsibilities, and speak up if they are unsure how to safely do a task. We want this to be a cooperative experience where everyone contributes and feels welcome.
