Program Details
The role of the Communication Volunteer / Coordinator involves taking on a wide range of responsibilities and being creative, bringing one's own ideas for campaigns and marketing material. You will work under the supervision of the Marketing Manager and receive ongoing support and guidance throughout your placement whilst also learning and practicing new skills.
The workdays of a Communication Volunteer or Coordinator are very varied, depending on which campaign, event, or material is the focus of the week. Content and visual creation take place daily, either independently or in collaboration with other volunteers. In the process, you will learn how to use various digital marketing software programes and develop your skills in content creation.
You will assist the fundraising team with marketing material and help with the management of our social media. Other tasks involve developing various marketing materials, assisting with the creation of newsletters and other publications, preparing and executing events, and updating marketing materials for volunteer outreach.
This role will be combined with other projects that take place in the mornings or afternoons. In this time you will function as a Multi Project Volunteer. For example, one day you might spend the morning working on the OCN Newsletter, then after lunch you might assist in teaching a class at our Recreation and Educational Center (REC).
For students, all volunteer positions are available as internships, which is ideal for students looking to complete a year in industry/placement abroad. In this case, you will receive an extra level of mentorship and all appropriate communication with your academic institution to ensure compliance with internship placement requirements.
