Program Details
Join us for an authentic cultural exchange in the Moroccan Sahara. At House of Yousseph, you’ll live in a traditional family home and experience the simple rhythm of desert life. Depending on the season, you may help with gardening, watering and caring for plants, traditional farming, animals, land maintenance, mud-building and small eco-projects. You’ll also have time to explore Tagounite, meet local people, enjoy the desert and share Moroccan food and culture with us
Activities & Shift
Activities vary according to the season and the needs of the farm. They may include:
• Gardening, planting and harvesting
• Watering and caring for palm trees and plants
• Helping with traditional agriculture
• Feeding and caring for animals
• Maintaining the land and outdoor spaces
• Making or repairing traditional mud structures
• Helping with small eco-projects
• Occasional help with cooking and keeping shared areas clean
We welcome volunteers who are willing to learn, work with their hands and share their own skills.
We normally organize around 4–5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week, depending on the season and the needs of the project. Volunteers have 2 days off per week and plenty of free time to relax, explore Tagounite and the surrounding Sahara, take photos, walk, create or simply enjoy the desert.
Rules
• Respect the family, culture and local community.
• Keep shared spaces clean and tidy.
• Save water and electricity.
• Be respectful of other volunteers.
• Communicate openly and enjoy the experience.
