NGO international Development Volunteer and community work
The experience
As NGO International Development Volunteer at SAFO in Masaka, will assist in food security health, empowerment, conduct school outreaches, community outreaches, support vulnerable girls' health through psychosocial care and menstrual hygiene, improve food security via assessments and training in food security, promote education by helping girls stay in school, and empower them with life skills for future self-reliance through skills training.

Description:
Volunteers will contribute to the expenses like food, house maintenance, utilities, transport from hostel to office and field, including pickup from the Airport.

Program Details
The SAFO Volunteer Program connects international and local volunteers with vulnerable individuals, families and groups in Masaka . Volunteers are oriented on safeguarding and community needs, then work directly to assess health, food security, empowerment and education gaps . You will provide psychosocial support, distribute menstrual hygiene kits and food, run life-skills sessions, and document impact. The program offers mentorship, field learning, and a chance to create lasting dignity and hope for girls living without parental care. And also engaged in the skills training of tailoring, hairdressing, knitting and food security & agroecology training
Activities & Shift
Activities: Community needs assessments, psychosocial support visits, menstrual hygiene & life-skills training, food and pad distribution in schools and communities, case documentation, and school outreaches including other trainings like agroecology and elderly Visits.
Shifts: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Flexible 20-30 hours/week, with occasional Saturday community outreaches.
