Program Details

The Creative Residency is for people who want to use their creative practice to build belonging and connection in Benarrabá, a small mountain village in Andalusia. You'll live as a coliver, sharing the house, meals and daily life with our international community and the village.

During your stay you'll design and lead a creative project with the community, and leave a tangible outcome behind for the pueblo, such as a community toolkit, a mural, a documentary or a workshop series. Past creative projects include a music documentary, portraits of locals, a storytelling workshop for kids and an animation video of the village. You bring the idea, and we help you connect with neighbours, the abuelas and local resources.

Your stay is free: you get a shared room and access to all coliving and coworking spaces in exchange for 20 hours per week of collaboration. Minimum stay: 4 weeks.

We also offer Content Creation and Other residencies, see our other positions.

Activities & Shift

20 hours per week, flexible and based on your project and availability. Your time will mix:

- Developing and running your creative project with the community
- Meeting neighbours and local collaborators to co-create together
- Sharing your work-in-progress with Rooral
- Documenting and presenting your final outcome to the village

There are no fixed shifts. We agree on a rhythm together when you arrive. You're also welcome to join weekly skill-shares, community dinners and village activities in your free time.

Rules

- Application: after contacting us on the platform, you'll complete a short application form where you tell us about the project or initiative you would like to lead, and share your profile (LinkedIn, Instagram, portfolio or similar). We review applications as they come in, and spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

- Fluent English is required. Spanish is highly desirable, as most villagers speak little English. If your Spanish is limited, choose a project that relies on making, music, image or food, and we'll help bridge the language with our team and colivers. A willingness to learn Spanish is a must.

- Complete your project and leave a tangible outcome for the community.

- Respect quiet hours and shared spaces in the house.

- Benarrabá is a real village, not a resort. Be respectful of neighbours and local customs.
