The experience

We are a father-and-son family,
living in the rainy, lush, evergreen temperate forest of northern Patagonia, Chile.
We live here year-round, and I welcome tourists who travel through the beautiful Exploradores Valley, 90 km away.
They visit the Exploradores Glacier and Laguna San Rafael National Park.
This year we are building a trail to take tourists to learn about the Laguna and the Grosse Glacier.
I am a tour guide in this area and I work at the Refuge.

Program Details

We offer spots for volunteers seeking a deep connection with the forest, mountains, and glaciers.
We live in a remote area, which is like living in the countryside; we use firewood for heating and cooking, gas as well; we have hot water and a Starlink connection two hours a day.
And cellular network connection on clear days.
We travel every 15 days to the tranquil Puerto Rio for supplies.
We enjoy getting to know other cultures, cooking, reading and studying.

Activities & Shift

Always the most important thing is order and cleanliness inside the facilities.
On sunny days we carry out activities such as collecting firewood, building trails, and tending the garden or orchard.
