A place where you need to arrive with high energy as you certainly will be met with high energy! A placement that really offers the chance to meet the local community and practice Portuguese. Also right by a beautiful beach.

Our stay at the inn wasn't quite what we expected. On one hand Joaq was a truly nice person. He was very social and you could always have a nice chat with him. On the other side the work aspect wasn't quite what we had expected. There was no plan nor schedule for us volunteers. Joaq didn't really have a clue on how to make a work plan so we ended up doing it. In general the days were quite messy and the pousada was under chaotic conditions when we came and again when we left. I think it is just very difficult for one person to keep up with such a big pousada.

My experience at Ebora Pousada pleased me a lot, especially the community aspect and the French initiation courses I taught to the children. We were four volunteers and it was a calm period, so it went well for me. Besides the tasks, I also sometimes cooked for the staff. Thanks to Joca for this opportunity, he is always very smiley and pleasant. It's a simple social hostel that could benefit from a few improvements, but overall it was very decent and the place has a lot of charm and is located in a quiet neighborhood, 2 minutes from the beach.

The host was responsive in contacting us and we authorized entry on the 27th. However, the experience was traumatic. The structure is precarious: drywall/foam walls, a bathroom without a door and a bedroom without a lock. The boundary was crossed by a volunteer (outside the app) who stood by my bed watching me sleep in the early hours. We discovered a history of harassment with other women there. The host verbally confirmed that he knew everything, but refused to eject him immediately, offering only a room with a broken lock. A very dangerous place for women!

We checked in on 27/09 and left on 29/09. Right upon arrival, the owner mentioned a case of harassment at the site, assuring that it had already been resolved. The facilities are precarious: bathrooms without doors and rooms with defective doors and no locks. In the morning, the volunteer (outside the app) touched my foot while I was sleeping. The owner verbally confirmed that he already knew the whole history of the guy, but refused to eject him, keeping the harasser in the same room as us and exposing us to danger. The alternative offered was a room with a broken lock. Total negligence!!!

It wasn't what I expected, I like clearly defined tasks, and there wasn't that there. I left earlier than expected because there was no way to stay there for very long. Joca is a very good person, but the inn needs a lot of attention to cleaning and the organization needs more people to help.

Joca is a person with a good heart, communicative and kind! The inn is beautiful and has potential! On the other hand, I missed the organization and clarity regarding the tasks; the space is large and still under construction. I believe that with a bigger team and a structured division of tasks, the experience can become more fluid. The volunteers' room is still under construction and this directly impacts comfort; another point is the issue of the inn's cleanliness, which needs to improve! My stay ended earlier than planned and I continued my journey; these points need improvements! Gratitude, Joca! 🌎🙏🏻
