Program Details

Join our international hostel team in Malta and gain hands-on experience in guest services, reception and hostel operations. You’ll help us create a welcoming, organised and social environment for travellers from around the world.
The programme is normally around 20 hours per week with at least 2 days off. We provide accommodation in a shared team dorm, daily self-service breakfast, use of our equipped kitchen, weekly laundry, Wi-Fi and role-specific training. Team members may also join selected hostel activities and community dinners or BBQs when organised.
We value reliability, initiative, good communication and people who genuinely enjoy hospitality and meeting international travellers. Minimum stay is 4 weeks, although 6–8 weeks or longer is strongly preferred.

Activities & Shift

Your main activities include welcoming guests, assisting with check-ins and check-outs, answering questions, sharing recommendations about Malta, supporting basic booking and administrative tasks, helping guests discover activities offered by our local partners and encouraging a friendly hostel atmosphere.
You may also help coordinate guests joining activities, prepare information for upcoming arrivals and departures, maintain clear handovers and support the wider hostel team during busy periods.
Shifts are organised through a weekly roster and are normally around 4 hours per day, approximately 5 days per week. Morning, afternoon or occasional evening schedules may apply depending on the position and operational needs. Your schedule is communicated in advance.

Rules

Reliability and respect are essential. Please arrive on time for agreed shifts and communicate early if there is any problem with your schedule.
Team accommodation is shared, so everyone is expected to keep personal and communal spaces clean, respect other team members’ belongings and observe hostel quiet hours.
Alcohol or recreational drugs are not permitted before or during shifts. Professional and respectful behaviour with guests and team members is expected at all times.
Guest information, access codes, booking details and other private hostel information must remain confidential.
Please follow Bookarest procedures, complete proper handovers and report guest, maintenance or operational issues rather than leaving them unresolved.
We encourage initiative and personality, but important refunds, guest-removal decisions, serious incidents or other major operational matters must always be escalated to management.
