Join our surf tourism research program in Kuta Lombok! π Help document surfing activity, visitor patterns, surf spots, and basic environmental conditions while enjoying regular surf sessions and exploring South Lombok. Gain hands-on field research experience, connect with local surf communities, and contribute to understanding how surfing tourism is developing in Lombok.

Description:
Volunteers contribute US$55 per day to help cover accommodation, three daily meals, surf equipment and local transportation to selected surf spots. The contribution also supports our surf tourism research, field materials, and community-based activities. Personal expenses, travel insurance, flights, visa, and activities outside the program are not included.

Program Details

Join our team in Kuta Lombok to combine surfing, exploration, and hands-on tourism research. Help document surfing activity, visitor patterns, surf conditions, and basic environmental observations while exploring different surf spots around South Lombok.
π Research & Fieldwork
You may count surfers, observe surf-school activities, photograph and geotag locations, record field observations, and learn about the relationship between surfing, tourism, local communities, and coastal environments.
π Surf & Explore
Research takes place alongside surf sessions and local exploration. Activities depend on your surfing level, weather, tides, swell, and sea conditions.
π¬ Researcher-Guided
No previous research experience is required. You will receive guidance from our local researcher and assist with field data collection and documentation. Research analysis and conclusions remain the responsibility of the research team.

Afternoon Shift: 14:00β16:00

π Continue visitor and surf activity observations

π΄ Days 5β7 β Free Time
Enjoy 3 full days off to surf independently, explore Lombok, visit beaches and waterfalls, experience local culture, or simply relax.
Important: Activities and surf locations may change according to waves, weather, tides, accessibility, participant ability, and research requirements. Volunteers assist with field data collection under the guidance of the local researcher.

Respect local surfers, surf schools, and other ocean users. Follow basic surf etiquette at all times.

Record observations accurately. Do not guess, fabricate, alter, or manipulate research data.

Do not delete, alter, or share research photographs, GPS locations, field records, or unpublished data without permission.

Treat local communities, surfers, tourism operators, and residents with respect. Ask permission before photographing or interviewing people.

Do not litter, damage marine ecosystems, or disturb wildlife and coastal environments.

Follow the research protocol and instructions of the local researcher. Volunteers assist with data collection only; analysis and academic conclusions remain the responsibility of the research team.
