At The Ecosphere, we see volunteering as a cultural and practical exchange, rather than simply a way of getting help with our projects.

We are looking for people who are genuinely curious about natural building, permaculture, regenerative agriculture and sustainable ways of living, and who are happy to learn by doing. You don't need to be an expert or have previous construction experience: enthusiasm, reliability, curiosity and a willingness to get involved are much more important.

During your stay, you will become part of our daily life and have the opportunity to learn directly from the ongoing construction of our hexagonal timber house, built using natural materials such as wood, straw and raw earth. We will explain the techniques we use and, whenever possible, involve you in the different stages of the work, so that you can develop practical skills and a better understanding of natural building.

We also value knowledge exchange. If you have skills, experiences or ideas that could contribute to the project, we are happy for you to share them with us. We believe everyone has something to teach and something to learn.

Activités et horaires

Depending on the stage of construction, you may have the opportunity to work with:

🌲 Timber construction and carpentry
🌾 Straw insulation and natural insulation techniques
🪨 Raw earth / earthen construction
🧱 Natural mortars and plasters
🏺 Cocciopesto – traditional lime and crushed terracotta-based material
🌿 Natural and low-impact building techniques
♻️ Working with local, recycled and sustainable materials

Volunteers will help 5 days per week, for a total of 5 hours per day, with regular breaks during the working time.

The working schedule can be arranged either in the morning or in the afternoon, depending on the needs of the project, the weather conditions and the type of work to be carried out.

We try to keep the schedule flexible and adapt it to the activities of the day, while making sure there is plenty of time to rest, explore the surrounding area, enjoy nature and experience life at The Ecosphere.

The work is mainly hands-on and practical, so volunteers should be prepared to work outdoors and with their hands, always learning together with us and respecting their own pace.

Règles

We ask our volunteers to be:

Responsible and respectful of the people, spaces and materials around them
Punctual and committed to the agreed working schedule
Curious and willing to learn new skills
Comfortable with practical, hands-on work and getting their hands dirty
Proactive and able to communicate openly if they have any questions or difficulties
Respectful of our way of living and our values of sustainability, cooperation and simplicity
