Paint murals and create art for our hostel in Phnom Penh 🎨
The experience
Help us turn our Phnom Penh hostel into a living gallery: murals, canvas, sculptures and installations inspired by Cambodia and your style. We favour local and upcycled materials and work alongside our Khmer team. Propose your ideas, agree on a sketch, then create at your own pace, 5h/day, 5 days/week, 2 days off in a row. We expect autonomy and finished projects. Min. 4 weeks, E-class visa, start ASAP.

Program Details
Volunteers join The Place Hostels Phnom Penh for a minimum of 4 weeks to work on creative and community projects. The first days are for discovering the hostel, meeting the team and guests, and proposing ideas. We then agree together on a plan and your first project. Every Monday, you have a short check-in with the manager to review progress and needs. Volunteers never replace our paid Khmer staff: no reception, cleaning or bar work.
Activities & Shift
Murals, canvas paintings, sculptures, installations and small design touches (signs, photo spots). Each project starts with a sketch and location approved by the manager. Around 5 hours a day, 5 days a week, mostly daytime and flexible by project. 2 days off in a row, agreed in advance. Paint and basic materials are provided for approved projects.
Rules
E-class visa required, minimum stay of 4 weeks.
No alcohol during your hours, zero tolerance for drugs.
Respect the team, the guests and Khmer culture: modest dress in the city, no instructions given to staff directly.
Money, bookings, transport and guest issues always go through reception.
Keep your bed, locker and materials tidy, and respect quiet hours.
Finish your projects before you leave and hand over to the next volunteer.
A warning is always given before ending a volunteering, except for drugs, violence or theft.
