Program Details
The guesthouse is family-run, with three stone-and-wood chalets in the middle of nature, overlooking the mountain ranges. Volunteering here is a trade: you help take care of the place and, in return, you experience Chapada Diamantina up close, with free time to explore the region's waterfalls, such as Buracão, Fumacinha, and Licuri. You will live with the family and with the other volunteers, in a rural, calm, and welcoming environment.
Activities & Shift
Four hours per day, five days a week, preferably in the morning, when the sun is milder. The main activities are: clearing the land with a brush cutter; caring for the garden and the vegetable patch (planting, watering, weeding); helping with the care of the chickens; and doing small repairs and maintenance. The tasks are agreed on the previous day, depending on the weather and what the place needs.
Rules
Safety first: to use the brush cutter you need to have experience, and the use of protective equipment (face shield or goggles, ear protection, leg protection, gloves, and boots) is mandatory. We provide the equipment. On the first day, the brush cutter is used together with someone from the guesthouse. We ask for respect for guests, for the family and for nature, quiet at night, and care with the shared room. The guesthouse is 8 km from the center of Ibicoara, on a dirt road.
