Program Details
Join our international hostel team in Malta and gain hands-on experience in rooms, housekeeping and day-to-day property operations. You’ll help us maintain clean, comfortable and well-prepared spaces while learning how a busy international hostel manages room turnover, linen, common areas, inspections and basic facilities.
The programme is normally around 20 hours per week with at least 2 days off. We provide accommodation in a shared team dorm, daily self-service breakfast, use of our equipped kitchen, weekly laundry, Wi-Fi and role-specific training. Team members may also join selected hostel activities and community dinners or BBQs when organised.
We value reliability, attention to detail, initiative and people who take pride in maintaining high standards. Minimum stay is 4 weeks, although 6–8 weeks or longer is strongly preferred.
Activities & Shift
Your activities may include preparing beds and rooms after departures, changing linen, room cleaning, bathrooms and showers, common-area cleaning, linen organisation, checking rooms before arrivals and reporting damaged or missing items.
Depending on your practical experience, you may also assist with basic facilities tasks such as replacing bulbs, checking locks and lockers, tightening furniture, minor paint touch-ups, organising maintenance supplies and recording property issues that require attention.
We normally have two people within this area. One may focus more on rooms and linen while the other focuses more on common areas and facilities, but both are expected to support room turnovers when occupancy is high.
Shifts are organised through a weekly roster and are normally around 4 hours per day, approximately 5 days per week. Most scheduled activities take place during the daytime between guest departures and arrivals.
Rules
Cleanliness and attention to detail are essential. Tasks should be completed according to Bookarest standards rather than rushed simply to finish the shift.
Please report damage, missing items, maintenance problems or unusual room conditions immediately.
Only minor maintenance within your experience and Bookarest procedures should be carried out. Electrical, major plumbing, air-conditioning or other specialist repairs must not be attempted unless specifically authorised and appropriately qualified.
Cleaning products and equipment must be used according to instructions and stored safely. Team members should never mix cleaning chemicals.
Shared team accommodation must also be kept clean and respectful. Professional behaviour with guests and other team members is expected at all times, and alcohol or recreational drugs are not permitted before or during scheduled shifts.
Reliability is important. Please arrive on time and communicate early if there is a genuine issue affecting your schedule.
