Join our international hostel team in Malta in a longer-term coordination position designed for someone who wants deeper experience in hostel management and operations.
You’ll support the organisation of daily hostel operations, guest experience, team coordination, standards, booking administration and basic revenue monitoring while working closely with the owner.
This position is normally around 25 hours per week with at least 2 days off. We provide accommodation in a shared team dorm, daily self-service breakfast, use of our equipped kitchen, weekly laundry, Wi-Fi and role-specific training.
Because this role requires more training, responsibility and continuity than our other positions, we are looking for applicants who can stay for at least 8 weeks, with a strong preference for 3–6 months or longer.
We value maturity, discretion, initiative, organisation and someone who can identify problems and follow them through to resolution rather than simply passing them on.
Activities & Shift
Your activities may include coordinating daily operational priorities, supporting the weekly team roster, checking handovers, following up guest and maintenance issues, monitoring room readiness and helping ensure agreed hostel standards are maintained.
You may also support reception and booking administration, review upcoming arrivals and departures, help monitor availability and operational performance, maintain simple revenue and commission records and prepare short reports for management.
The role includes helping coordinate the different hostel areas — Guest Services, Rooms & Facilities and Food & Beverage — while ensuring important information is communicated clearly between team members.
Depending on your experience, you may also assist with OTA content, direct-booking opportunities, basic performance tracking, activity/referral reconciliation, stock or supplier follow-ups and selected marketing or digital tasks.
This is primarily a coordination and administrative role. You should be willing to assist operationally when genuinely necessary, but you will not normally be scheduled as the regular housekeeping, breakfast or night-shift replacement.
The weekly schedule is organised in advance and is normally around 25 hours. Some flexibility is required because hostel operations do not always follow fixed office hours.
Rules
This position requires a high level of reliability, discretion and professionalism. You may have access to operational, guest and commercial information that must remain confidential.
Accurate handovers and reporting are essential. Important guest, financial, maintenance or staffing issues should not be left unresolved or undocumented.
Do not approve significant refunds, major purchases, pricing changes, guest removals or other important commercial decisions without management authorisation unless authority has specifically been delegated.
The coordinator is expected to support the team respectfully and lead by example. The role is not about giving orders; it is about keeping operations organised, maintaining standards and helping the team succeed.
Professional behaviour is required at all times. Alcohol or recreational drugs are not permitted before or during scheduled duties.
Problems should be escalated early when management input is genuinely required.
