Volunteer under the stars, science lovers and stargazers
The experience
We are an astronomical observatory with accommodations in the Tatacoa Desert. We welcome visitors who want to learn about the universe, reconnect with nature, and disconnect from the noise. Although daytime heat dominates, the night is spectacular, which is why we live, care for, and protect this place.

Program Details
Orion Interstellar Camp is an astronomical observatory with accommodations for national and international tourists where the experience of living under dark skies, the stars when the night clears, and the silence in the middle of the Tatacoa Desert has no time limit. We are passionate about science, astronomy, and science outreach. Astrophotography is practiced, and every day something new is lived.
Activities & Shift
Day shift (3 hours):
Room organization: changing bed linens and cleaning.
Pumping water with the motor pump.
Cleaning of toilets and the common area.
Prepare some breakfasts that may be requested.
Night shift (2 hours):
Assist visitors, distribution and sale of bottled beverages, distribute dinners. Address service questions during the astronomical experience.
We like teamwork, so it would be ideal if you inform us when someone desires an astrophotography session as well as providing possible camping tents.
