Program Details

We are conservationists, regenerative farmers, and community leaders working to restore and protect the Selva Maya, the largest jungle in Central America. This biodiverse region is also home to ancient Maya temples.

Our permaculture project covers 2.5 hectares of native tropical forest near the rural village of Paxcaman, Flores, Petén.

We are developing a food forest with ginger, turmeric, papaya, macal, vanilla, herbs, vegetables, and other crops. The property also includes a tree nursery, a fish pond, and an agroforestry area with cacao and ramón trees🌳

Our main focus is education, agroforestry, and bioconstruction. We are currently combining ancestral and modern natural building techniques to create a permaculture education center using natural materials.

Activities & Shift

Volunteers help with different activities, including:

• Bioconstruction and natural building.
• Permaculture gardening, composting, pruning, and planting.
• Forest restoration, community tree planting, and tree nursery care.
• Supporting activities with local women and youth groups.
• Interacting with the local community.
• Cooking, feeding animals, and keeping the property free of rubbish.

Schedule ⏰

Volunteers help approximately 4 hours per day, usually early in the morning to avoid the heat.

We particularly ask volunteers to participate in:

• Saturday mornings: Activities with our Nature Youth Group.
• Sunday afternoons: Activities with our Women's and Children's Groups.

Volunteers are welcome to take full days off. We simply ask for clear communication in advance so we can organize our activities accordingly.
