Program Details
This project offers a meaningful opportunity for students on holiday, aspiring veterinary professionals, and animal lovers to gain practical experience while making a positive contribution to animal welfare.
Occasionally, you may participate in home visits to support dog training and provide guidance to pet owners. The project is based in Accra, Ghana, and provides a rewarding experience for volunteers who are passionate about animals and eager to contribute to their care.
An important aspect of the project involves educating pet owners about their animals' health conditions, proper care, and general welfare. You will also assist with animal handling and training, including taking dogs for walks and helping them develop good behavior. At the veterinary center, you will work alongside staff to care for other domestic and farm animals, such as pigs, cows, and sheep.
Activities & Shift
As a veterinary volunteer, you will participate in daily activities focused on animal care, with particular attention to the individual needs of each animal. Your responsibilities may include observing animals for signs of illness, maintaining medical records, monitoring their behavior, and assisting veterinary staff in identifying diseases and injuries. You may also help administer medications and support veterinary procedures, including spaying, neutering, and orthopedic surgeries, under the supervision of qualified professionals.
