Hello and welcome!
Next spring, I would love to build a wooden yoga platform in the woodland near my home in the Italian Alps. I am looking for practical, hands-on people who would enjoy helping me bring this project to life.
The idea is to create a simple, natural space for yoga and meditation, surrounded by trees and mountain scenery. If you have experience with woodworking, carpentry, DIY projects or small construction work, your skills would be especially welcome.
My name is Zaira, and I live in a peaceful mountain hamlet in Piedmont, near the Swiss border. I teach Traditional Yoga and Advaita Vedanta, and I enjoy sharing meditation, music and cultural experiences. This is an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful outdoor project, exchange skills and ideas, and experience a simple lifestyle close to nature.
Activities & Shift
The main activity will be building a wooden yoga platform in the woodland. Depending on your experience, the wood needed to build the platform will be purchased. Tasks will focus on preparing the area, measuring and assembling the wooden structure, and completing the platform together.
Previous experience with woodworking, carpentry or construction is an advantage. You don't need to be a professional, but you should enjoy practical work, be comfortable using tools safely and be willing to work outdoors.
Please keep in mind that we live in the Alps, and walking uphill and downhill is part of everyday life. The woodland site may require walking and carrying materials on foot.
The usual schedule is around 5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week, with 2 days off. We can organise the tasks together depending on the weather, the progress of the project and your skills.
For this position, I will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner, a private room and if you are a professional carpenter or have relevant professional construction experience, a financial contribution for your work may also be possible. We can discuss this together based on your skills and experience.
Rules
My home is a traditional mountain house of approximately 160 years, located in a quiet hamlet surrounded by woodland. I have chosen to preserve its original character and simplicity rather than modernise it completely.
The house is heated with wood, and the bathroom is located on the kitchen terrace, outside the main living area. Please make sure you are comfortable with rustic accommodation and limited modern comforts before applying.
We are vegan, so you should be comfortable eating a vegan diet during your stay. Smoking is not allowed inside the house or in any indoor space. If you smoke, please do so outside and never leave cigarette butts on the ground, as we live surrounded by woodland.
I value respect, reliability, clear communication and care for shared spaces. As this project involves practical construction work, it is important to follow safety instructions, use tools responsibly and communicate openly if you are unsure about a task.
This is a peaceful and secluded place, ideal for people who enjoy nature, outdoor activities and a simple lifestyle. I look forward to sharing this project with people who are motivated to create something useful and beautiful together.
